Q + A about T + A

11.17.2009

Working for a strip club, I often get 20 questions a day about anything and everything, from bikini lines, to money. Even though it can be exasperating, I try to give every question a fair answer because that person usually doesnt know that 20 other people already asked me that this week!

So I decided to flip the tables and give people a chance to ask a Manager at the club I work at, Magic City, any question they wanted.

The manager I asked is Mikey, aka Mike Jr, aka Lil Magic. He is the son of "Big Magic", the founder of Magic City, and has been, who I consider to be, a good friend of mine since I started about 3 years ago. To me, he is like my long lost step brother. We fuss, we challenge each other, and argue his insane fascination with GOOGLE all the time. He is one of those "tough l-ve" kind of guys, and has managed to be friends and still stay professional when making decisions that would still piss me the fuck off. I dont agree with MOST of the decisions, rules, memos, and other blah blah blah that he puts out. But when studying peoples actions, we should pay closer attention to their intentions. And as much as some of us girls would like to jump him in a dark alley sometimes, he, in my opinion, has the best intentions of anyone in management at Magic City. Though he is human, he makes a lot of decisions without malice, which I can not say for everyone. It is extremely hard for some people to penalize someone(s) that you consider a friend. But trust me, Mikey has no problem suspending you and then taking everyone out for drinks the next day. He has almost mastered the fine line, and just because I am doing this blog, promoting him, myself and Magic City does NOT mean I wont be fired next week, lol. Even as a friend, I still get the same treatment as that girl over there. Side note, he was also the manager that gave me a second chance when FIRED for my weight.

Here are your questions, here are his answers:

Do you pick the money up off the floor sometimes?

No, but I do clean it off the ceiling.
You get to see the dancers constantly nude, is this considered a perk of the job?

Yes. Perk, maybe. I don’t enjoy seeing every girl naked. So there’s a give and take there.

Do you drink on the job?

No!

Do you or have you dated any of the dancers while working for Magic City ?

Yes I have. I enjoy dancers company and separate business from pleasure very well.

Are you following your dreams, as a manager at Magic City?

I’m an entrepreneur, so yes. This not my only gig either. I have my own entertainment consulting company, and I do marketing, sales, and management for other family owned businesses.

Do you ever stop caring that there are a bunch of nude women around you ?

Definitely, it’s overrated. Most women look better with their clothes on.

When you're hiring the dancers, why do you hire some women who are less than "stellar"?

Sure, the world is limited on HOT chicks that want to dance for a living. So we have to make due sometimes and depend on our ability to upgrade a girl.

Why not build a fitness center in the club, to motivate your dancers?
In the club? Lqi, our facility is not large enough. (LQI means, laughing quietly on the inside)

Who was the first OG stripper? ..And what makes a stripper an OG?

I would have to ask my father that one. What makes a stripper an “OG”? It starts off of course with time on the job. But not only that, usually an “OG” has been considered a top dancer wherever she goes, and has her act together. Can’t be an “OG” and don’t know how to act or pay bills on time.

Do you secretly want to be on the stage?
Tried me..
Outside of the club, when with a woman intimately, are you no longer wowed by the female nude anatomy?

No, I’m a man, so nude females that I’m attracted to still wow me like any other male.

What do dancers usually do after they leave this industry? Do they often come back?

Not so well. If they haven’t prepared and planned correctly then they’re usually back within a year or so. Same reason they became a dancer in the first place is usually what brings them back.

How do you evaluate a woman upon hiring them to be a dancer? How do you know you can trust them, and what are the requirements to be a Magic City dancer?

I look for basic cute, and then I look for problems. If the dancer doesn’t have any obvious problems that would go against what we’re looking for then they’re generally hired. Requirements? Females that are customer oriented, friendly, presentable and eager to work.
Would you allow your daughter to strip?

Don’t plan on having any girls but, I guess it depends on the circumstances. If I were able to support my daughter financially, then no. I couldn’t then, maybe.

doesn't plan on having girls? As if you can plan the gender of your child...I bet you he will have a daughter and she will be a stripper.

very interesting question and answer session with the manager, brook. while i can't say his answers were necessarily suprising, i find his candor and honesty rather refreshing. i'm sure as your manager that can be both a positive and a negative at times, but in the end everyone appreciates the truth. by the way, thanks for asking him my question. keep up the good work mama! =)

I l-ve your blog! This was a good Q&A! If you ever do this with him again I'd like to submit a question. "Would Lil' Magic wife a dancer?" Seems to be a hot topic lately, surprised that it wasn't asked. Good luck in all you do, Brook.

I just started reading your blog, and I absolutely love it. Your rawness, and telling it how you feel from the mind of someone with your occupation is even more dope. I'm on the total opposite side of it, just finished medical school, but I applaud ANY women, doing their thing and doing it without the help of a man. Do you Brooke. You do it well girly.

haa ha Mikey's humor is silly. "dont plan on having any girls". lol good Q&A def would like to see more of this. For example of a dancer who made it out the strip business and is now successful. ill stay tuned!

Great Questions. Seems like a cool dude. I like a man who can separate business from pleasure, Now I think I have to go to Magic City and look for him . LOL
