What's the big deal with prostitution?

I only ask because I don't know why I would ever concern myself with what one does with her body, or his money, or vice versa. But the age old double standard is: judge the prostitute, and not the customer. People either dislike prostitution because its one, illegal or two, socially frowned on. Whether you find them on a corner, a strip club or posing as a "real estate agent", there is a sexual double standard for promiscuous women. See, a woman being what the collective call a WHORE, is really only criminal when she charges for it. Otherwise, the peanut gallery doesn't seem to bother with the occasional slut who sleeps around. But if she decides to profit off her escapades, then all of sudden its offensive. There is just something about putting a hefty price on your head for something that otherwise you would already be doing for free, that seems to rub prudes the absolute wrong way...

12 people had something to say.:

Truthfully, I think sex is something that should only happen when two people actually have feelings for one another (of course this is unheard of nowadays). Real talk, I can't imagine sleeping with a bunch of men without having any feelings just to get a buck--if I'm not feeling the guy I might throw up on him if there are NO feelings...its real deal serious like that for me. My body is sacred and any man can't just run up in me, but I understand that the love of money will have people do just about anything. I guess we have been led to believe that money is the key to happiness so by any means necessary get money sans morals. However, I will say that in reference to the point ur trying to make, if your going to do it, then yes don't do it for free, it's obviously a job and when you work you should be paid. The real problem though is that so many women are f--ked up emotionally and they use their body to try and fill a void that is missing, so rather than deal with the real issue they keep degrading their body in hopes of finding "something." Its called looking for love in the all the wrong places. At the end of the day these are just my thoughts, to each his own, everybody does them and what you eat don't make me shit..

Everyone likes being the fucker, no one likes being the fuckee :shrugs:

There's also the element that some people hate the fact they have to go to a prostitute in the first place. The stigma of paying for pussy is too much. So that hatred and frustration gets forced upon the prostitute and the profession.

I could care less how folks get their rocks off! It shouldn't be any1's business unless they told u about it. Ur statements r indeed the truth B!

**I see u makin big moves, so happy 4 u & proud of u...awww, tear! lol**

i dont get it..lol why is it LEGAL for PORN STARS to do it..and give a precetnage to their agency..and ILEGAL for prostitutes to do it..they both get paid to do the same thing right..*scratches head* i dont understand..

*stacie-ann October 15, 2009 4:56 AM

i dont think it becomes offensive to anybody really.

MOST women might not want to admit it, but if it didnt come with all the social stigma, bitches would be selling their pussy left and right. i just think that people fear what they do NOT understand. They can't understand how a woman gets up enough courage to shake her ass on a pole infront of people & they damn sure can't imagine sleeping with strangers for hundreds of dollars, but believe me, if they could, I think they would.

Women have been giving up the "P" for free for quite some time now, especially to some real lame ass dudes they call "my boyfriend". Why not get paid for it? By no means do I support street prostitution, because like crack, its wack. If you're going to be a hoe, be a top dollar hoe. Escort companies, dating only "ballers", etc. If hoeing yourself is what you choose to do, that's fine, I just feel that it's better to play it safe. Don't do it in the streets where you're MORE liable to get your ass beat and murdered.

I agree with you that it is the woman's right to do what she pleases with her body which may include selling it for cash and/or goods. But I have to throw it out there that I don't beleive a woman should be a prostitute without protection or a PIMP. Women in this line of work run into lots of shady characters, with the possibility of being stiffed for the money, raped, group raped, or worse case scenario the target of a stalker or killer. Looking at these things I can see the need for LAWS. They are there to help prevent these sort of mishaps or discourage the sexual and physical abuse of women. If we as women want this freedom there needs to be at least some type of organization to protect women against crimes that result from her choice to use something as precious as her own body to get money.

Yes, there are many moral issues promiscuous sex, but sex is always going to be the easiest thing to sell in this society as well as other because it will always be in demand. That is until we say it's too wrong to be sold. Well, so much for that.

Ahhhh capitalism… it's easy to understand 1) why someone will sell something that could otherwise be free, 2) why it is perfectly fine to be on the receiving end of said transaction (no matter what the purchase is for) as long as 3) someone is making money off of it at the top of the chain. The king of the jungle sits around all day chillin. He could care less what the other animals are eating to stay healthy and plump as long as he stays healthy and plump eating them. He survives, King.

You have to understand why prostitution still exist even though it's so "bad". Demand. Look at all the highly respected names that come out in sex scandals dealing with paying for sex. Someone is still benefiting from it at the top. They just pay a much higher premium.

Yes prim_proper, porn is perfectly fine. Do you know how much money it generates each year?

Nothing is too bad to do unless it is too bad for you. Which like this topic of prostitution is a good thing, but some people would never see themselves picking up trash or working at Mcdonalds for money (but in this economy you see a lot of people's opinions quickly changing).

i think that prostitution is illegal because none of it goes to the government. they want their cut too but the prostitutes aren't willing to give that money up. if it's getting their bills paid, i ain't mad.

i don't want to write an essay but to sum things up in my opinion prostitution should not be a criminal issue, it should be a moral issue but i won't go into the blurred line between church and state.

prostitution is the world's oldest profession and shouldn't be shunned. women in charge of their sexuality are looked down upon and labelled: can we say misogyny? but men in charge of their sexuality are praised. [as a matter of fact today in class my professor was showing a photo of mary shelley and said "she doesn't look like a brazen hussy in this photo, she actually looks proper...but she was a slut". GASP!]

now before you think i'm living in la-la land i am aware that there are PLENTY of situations where prostitution is negative/has negative aspects [pimps, underage prostitution, drug abuse, disease, rape, etc.] but all and honestly if it were legalized and regulated i could only imagine how much good could come from it. we could put pimps out of business, cut back on underage prostitution, have the women tested on a regular basis and prevent the spread of disease, create revenue, etc. oh well a girl can dream...

darn, it turned into an essay. apologies ;]

I respect women that let you know upfront that they're not sleeping with you for free. that there should be some gain for them, now whether that gain is money, status, gifts, trips, or a relationship I'm sure can be negotiated.
I do not respect women that sleep with men and do NOT gain anything from the interaction beyond sex. If he isn't helping you achieve anything then you're reducing your worth.
Get something - even if it's a boyfriend. That may turn into a fiance, which will be a husband...
Notice: I didn't say babymama

Its funny for all of you to say that prostitution is not a big deal at all. Next time you catch your married man, father, brother paying for SEX and see how you feel about it. Your not accounting the fucking pimp and if the girl is underage and how she was put in it.
1. There is a difference between a stupid golddigging whore and a prostitute.

People like you are making young "stupid" girls think about what they are doing and say "see she says its okay". Keep your mouth shut. When you have a daughter, hopefully she becomes a prostitute so that YOU KNOW how it feels and maybe then your attitude about it will change.
