so i asked my "twitter family" of followers a question today..
"do you think that we only have ONE soul mate in a lifetime, and if so, does that person have to be in a romantic relationship with you, or is there such a thing as someone that is just meant to exist in your life..forever as your companion?"

@shehateme Perfect sense. Just because a person is only in your life for a reason, doesn't mean their essence isn't for a lifetime.

@supaflynfuchsia No, soul mates are like shoes. I believe theres a soul mate for every season of our life.

To expand, because 140 characters don't really cut it, I feel like everybody falls into reasons, seasons, and lifetimes.
Someone can be in more than one category. As I said, just because that person is only in your life for a quick minute, doesn't mean that what they have done won't resonate with you for the rest of your life.
So, yes, one soulmate, but you can have a lifelong companion as well.
I say we do not directly have soul mates but I do think we have 'seasonal soul mates'. By that I mean like from age 20-30 someone could be your soulmate then and you can grow out of it..then from 30-40 you may find another mate that fits you...and so on and so forth.
I feel like you can have more than one soulmate because as humans we are for ever changing and evolving Some of us are lucky to have more than one others of us are still searching however when you find that person/persons they brighten you life in a way you didnt know possibl
People think of soulmates as these people who fall out of the sky one day and light your life up, but I think two people really make each other their soulmate by working at loving and treating each other well. I was talking about arranged Indian marriage on my blog, and a lot of those couples feel they're soulmates because they grew to love each other, not because of fate or destiny or luck. They just worked at making it work.
awwww i made the blog -blushing-.. a Soul mate is not limited to just the person you think you should marry... my soul mate just happens to be one of my friends. No matter what goes down..we can never walk away from each other.. There's a love present that surpasses friendship or companionship..
people come and go. but through that span of coming and going, you're bound to find someone good enough to have your heart forever.

I dont know if I like the term seasonal, but I do believe that people can have a deep/soulful connections and impressions on each other that last forever. You might not be with that person forever--or even very long--but you'll never be able to doubt the impact they have on your life.
So far, I've met two of my soul mates--non of them romantic. One of them is someone I havnt spoken to in months and might never speak to again.

But I don't feel as if your soulmate has to considered as such only because the two of u are "together."
A "soulmate" can be anyone near & dear to u. And I feel like ur soul is connected to ur heart so, depending on how ur heart feels @ a given time & who's there to help u thru that time..good or bad, can be ur soulmate.
In terms of a "soulmate" when we're speaking of significant others...I don't believe u can ONLY have 1. Love comes & goes & real life relationships aren't always life fairytale movies, so...to me when u're expectn a "soulmate" in that sense u're playn Russian Roulet, u'll never know what the odds are.

yeahh i missed the tweet too. my thoughts: i feel like you can have a soulmate even though they aren't your love. some people are simply kindred spirits. i think my soulmate is someones bf and soon to be babydaddy ;)
